I am just back to work after a short vacation. I went to my home (Chennai) and as usual I have booked my tickets in train. This time, it turned out to be a real pain with too many troubles. That too, especially the return journey was pathetic.
It all started from the very moment I left my home at Adyar, Chennai. My train was scheduled at 6:10 PM from Chennai Central. As usual, I started at 4:45 PM, but, to my luck I couldn't find any buses or even auto. But, i didnt have to wait for long as a new A/C Volvo bus came along at around 5:00 PM and it was quite free. It reached Mylapore in less than 10 mins. After that, the traffic was more than what I have imagined. Time went by and we got stuck there in the heavy traffic. There were some co-passengers who also wanted to travel in the same train. And, they started panicking from 5:30 PM itself. It just added to my trouble though I was confident of making it atleast before 6:00 PM. My clock went past 6:00PM but still bus was waiting on the signal in front of central. When I entered Central, it was 6:08 PM. Had to run a long way to reach my coach S12. Couldnt get there on time. So, got into S8 and moved within the coach.
Then, came the actual pain. When I reached S12 after passing thru the heavy crowd, I was surprised to see there was no seat numbered 27 (UB which was actually allotted for me). Also, there was a huge crowd in coach and I just kept waiting for TTE to come. I relaxed for a while and only after TTE came I realized that "Indian railways" has added Side Middle berths. Even after adding Side Middle, two persons need to share the side lower. Thatz weird. Even then, I was just wondering, how come there were around 5-6 persons sitting on side lower. Then, I came to know that those people have got only 2/6 tickets confirmed. They (5-6) were sharing the same berth. In almost all the side lowers, it was the same case. After all the confusion, I got a Side Upper. Fortunately, a gang of 5 on the Side Lower berth exchanged that for a LB. Then, another adjustment. This time I got promoted to MB. The final adjustment gave me UB.
Then, came the problems from beggars. A beggar boy brought a money along with him. The youngsters traveling on the train started teasing the monkey and it turned violent and started jumping around the cabin. It took around 5 mins for that boy to catch hold of it again.
