Intel reader, reading made easy!

Ever thought of having someone reading books, newspapers and other articles for you? If not, think again. The world's largest semi-conductor chip manufacturer, Intel,  has come up with an innovative product named "Reader". Its real and not just on the paper. Intel has released Reader as part of its HealthCare initiative. The Intel Reader is a mobile handheld device designed to increase independence for people who have learning disabilities, or have low-vision, blindness or for anyone who struggles with reading standard print. It is going to be a great tool for people who have difficulty with text. Check out the video here.

How does it work?
Technically, it is nothing but converting the printed texts into audio. The reader costs $1499 and its on sale from today. With the help of Intel Portable Capture Station, one can scan the entire book and load it onto the reader with ease.
  • Point and shoot the text with the in-built camera.
  • The text is recognized from the image and is converted to voice with a Text-to-Speech engine.
  • Save the text as an audio file for future reference. Listen to it whenever you feel like.
