[Google] Virtual keyboard and improvements to Suggestions

Google has been constantly improving its search interface and adding new features. Some of the recent changes to Google:

Virtual Keyboard

Google has added a virtual onscreen keyboard to search interface. This keyboard will show up when you are trying to search on a language other than the language of your keyboard. The interesting thing here is that, after the keyboard is shown on the screen, the keys on the physical keyboard gets mapped to the onscreen keyboard. Among the Indian languages, virtual keyboard is available only for Hindi as of now. Try it out here.Virtual keyboard

Google suggest transliterates your search term

Google suggest has added support for more than 50 languages. If you are using Google in languages other than English, Google will transliterate the search terms to the language you have chosen. I could not figure out when this was added to Google. Google suggest language supportUpdate: Google has added support for twenty more languages including Tamil, Telugu.

  1. I am using the search-in-your-language feature for atleast 1.5 years now. So probably should be around the same time they introduced google.com/transliterate/tamil

  2. @Sankar I don't think suggest was available 1.5 years back. It was integrated with the main search interface only less than an year. Correct me if I am wrong.
