YouTube has got a new video editor which allows you to create a new video using the excerpts from the videos you have already uploaded. While Microsoft is busy working on developing applications for PC, Google is making those applications available on the web. YouTube Editor or what I call it as Google’s version of Windows Movie Maker is yet another example to the above said fact. Though Microsoft is lagging behind Google in terms of its web products but they are catching up with their Windows Live Suite. Also, some of the apps from Microsoft Live Essentials Suite are really exciting. Live Writer. Fuse feature of yet to be released version of Photo Gallery. Auto Movie feature on the Windows Movie Maker. Shall write about them in detail in the next post. YouTube Video editor is just a basic editor where in we can do the following operations:
- Drag and drop videos onto a timeline.
- Split the clips. Change the position of the clip.
- Add audio to the timeline. Supported with ads.
- Create video from the timeline.
- Publish the video.
In the current form, the editor will not be much use. But, once built with features like transition, effects, texts, etc, this will be a good web replacement for Windows Movie Maker.
