University of Warsaw in affiliation with IEEE International Conference on Data Mining 2010 (ICDM) is organizing a Data Mining Competition "Road Traffic Prediction for Intelligent GPS Navigation". The task is to predict city road traffic for the purpose of intelligent driver navigation and improved journey planning. The three problems to be addressed:
- Congestion Forecasting
- Modeling of Traffic Jams
- Smart navigation based on real-time GPS monitoring
All these problems are independent. You can work on one or more problems. Datasets come from a highly realistic simulator of city traffic, Traffic Simulation Framework. The competition is organized on TunedIT Challenges data mining platform built by the team of researchers from University of Warsaw, Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics. Prizes worth $5,000 in total will be awarded to the winners. Competition has already started on June 22, 2010 now and will last till September 6, 2010. You can find more details here.
