For all the Android device owners, the biggest news of the day is Swype for Android. It is now available for a public beta. This means that you can use the world’s fastest text input method on your Android phone. Don’t believe that? Check out the Guinness World Record set by a Swype user for texting speed. The record was set using Samsung Omnia II (the first phone to get Swype).
What is Swype?
Swype is an innovative way of typing text on touch screens. A word can be typed just by sliding through the letters without having to remove your finger or stylus from the on-screen keyboard. Swype was developed by Swype Inc.
How do I get it for Android?
The first beta of Swype was released in Mar 2010 but was sent out only to a limited set of users. Today, Swype has opened the beta for everyone and you can download it by pointing your browser to Swype website. A detailed step-by-step installation instructions can be found here. The initial beta was very buggy on my Nexus One. The latest one seems to be working great and I just love Swyping.
Update: Swype for Android does not seem to be working on Android 2.2 Froyo.
Update-1: Uninstalling and re-installing the application worked. Thanks to @AmerSweidan for the tip.
