Infibeam.com, a startup based out of Ahmedabad by ex-employees of Amazon, has announced India’s first E-Reader Pi. Using Pi, you can do much more than just reading books. Pi can be even used to listen to music, browse through photos, and play games. It can also be used as a document store by adding a SD card. The supported formats for books are PDF, EPUB, HTML, TXT, MOBI, DOC. It supports the audio format MP3 and the image formats JPG, BMP, PNG. It has also been built with the multi-lingual support (Hindi, Sanskrit, other Indian local languages). The major problem with this gadget is its 6 inch display. Not only that the display is small and monochrome, it does not have a backlight which makes it almost impossible to use when there is less light in the environment. Pi is expected to be released on 22-Feb-2010 at a cost of INR 9,999/-
